The private buses running between Trissur and Palakkad is going on a single day strike against the poor road condition between the cities. The road is approx 75 KM long which is one of the most busiest load stretch in Kerala. And it is the most accident prone.
It is a fact that the road condition is quite poor in that stretch but I think it is quite ridiculous to go on a strike, making the life of the poor bus passengers’ life. The private buses running through this road is quite notorious for their rash driving and the accidents they have made. There is at least one accident a day happening in this road because of the rash driving.
I wish the passengers should go on an indefinite strike against these and similar buses who risk the life of the fellow passengers for mere monetary gain of a couple of hundred rupees.

1. Will you slash the fuel price if you are back in power, ever ?
2. Will you regulate the fuel prices again ?
3. Will you slash the taxes levied on petroleum products ?
4. Will you regulate the food prices ?

wow, again the useless governing party had announced another harthal. I dont know what these idiots gain by creating chaos in the society and by disturbing social balance.
Harthal is now not a way of protesting against policies. If they need to protest against these fuel price hike, let them do the following
1. Take off the taxes levied by state government on the petrol products.
2. Cut down travel expenses of government officials.
3. Encourage public transport – instead of increasing the bus fare , slash it down and increase the number of state owned public transport in and between cities.
4. Build better roads so that we’ll get better fuel efficiency.
5. Encourage ‘Green’ transport ( Reva etc )
6. Levy tax or toll to private transport in cities ( because city traffic is more fuel consuming )

Unless we are a highly productive country and we have enough stuff to export, like the middle east have, taxes are the main sources of income for the government. They will impose tax for every penny you earn and every penny you spend. And just like a bank charge you penal interest on the unpaid instalment , the state and local bodies charges taxed on the tax paid
… That is how the petrol price hiked by 2.71 INR in Kerala , when Pranab increased just Re 1. So the state is imposing 170 % Tax on the tax we pay for a litre of petrol ( Other taxes extra ) . Wow, what a nice idea of earning!!!
And, I was very much surprised to see that the price hike for petrol came into effect in the same day of budget ( in the same financial year ) when the new income-tax slab will be effective only in the 2011 march. I am still wondering if they have started building much spoken 1 KM road per hour ?
What will happen when we are charged an extra 3 rupees for a litre of petrol or diesel ? Its quite natural that there will be an extra expense of Rs 3 per litre or 20 paise per kilometre ( for me, my alto gives me a mileage of 15 kilometres per litre ) – So , I do not understand why these leaders – especially the transport minister of Kerala is behind the agenda of raising bus charges in Kerala by 1.5 Rs ? ( when the price of the fuel has increased by 4%, how it is a justice to increase the bus fare by 50% ? ) I am against that, when they stop the services at 8 PM or 9 PM where they are ought to be running from 5AM to 11 PM. I am against the bus service who over-speeds in the roads and harasses fellow road users and deny their freedom of travel. I am against the bus service who just want to drive rash through the road without considering what passengers want.
Does any one need harthal ? Gandhiji might be repenting now that he has developed harthal and non-cooperation. He has never imposed anyone to take part in a strike nor to go for a strike without his or her will. Now we have a constitution and it clearly explains the rights of an Indian citizen and its being denied publicly and poor democracy is being raped in public. Have you ever counted how much is your average daily earning and what is the earning or income that your company gets when you work for a day or how many days it will take to compensate a days’ loss ? The numbers are quite huge and now harthal is a public waste of resources ( money, muscle and whatsoever ).
Looking forward for a tomorrow, where there will be no harthals, and my right to travel wont be denied
