four years of failure!!!

Posted by: Vinod Chacko   in misc

At last smart city too dropped….  another episode of the failure of this ministry :)

I feel that the present LDF ministry in kerala is a complete failure … right from education, we know the war between the private professional course management and the government and many other related stuff. Nobody cares to for the fees associated with the admission of kids to the kinder garden!!!

Internal affairs – wow thats a fine ministry ( lol) nothing other than a few bomb blasts across the state, ( god knows who did that after 2-3 years of the blast! The police is keen in catching those guys who are not wearing helmet and not fastening the seat belts! the robbery and mugging reports are increasing day by day!

The condition of roads in quite pathetic! The ministers travel across the state on rail to learn about the poor condition of the roads! And fill the gutters with paper and sand  ( what an idea!!! sirji! )  There is no good road in kerala where we can drive with peace of mind. Either there will be gutter or there will be some other obstacles! I wonder how many kilometres of new roads constructed during this time! ? ( I think the government should reimburse the maintenance cost of the damages to vehicles by the gutters! )

Further, even the state proposed to reduce the width of the highway to 30m from 60m !! how foolish they are! Why are they conveniently forgetting that the roads are the back bone of any economy ? if only we have good roads then only we can have developments! Thanks to NHAI that they withdrawn from the bid which made the local bodies to compromise the width to 45m.

The scam and scandals of the lottery and at the borders is eating the FM’s head! Why cant he be a bit more transparent – may be because his hands are clean but not the governing party’s!

Industry – I wonder what has done so far by our dear industrial Minster! How many new industries ? how many new employments so far has been created by non IT sector ?

Health minister seems to taking care of her health alone – all the four years we saw a variety of epidemics ranging from h1n1 to chikungunya. And she was not capable of keeping her subordinates under control (strike of govt doctors)

I dont know why the forest and other ministers are there for – the only minister i feel is doing things properly is the water authority! … excise ministry is like a margin free market of liquor :) its only in front of beverage shop that keralites have a little discipline :-D

google enables calling to phone from gmail

Posted by: Vinod Chacko   in misc

wow,  when I read in a daily that we can now call to phones in canada and US from our gmail , i thought to try it out . For that I switched to a proxy and downloaded and installed the google voice plugin from gmail.com/call

When I restarted my forefox, I saw a similar ‘call phone’  buddy added to my chat list and when clicked a dial pad poped up.  I selected India from the drop down and dialed to my number – bingo! my phone started ringing and it was from a US number :)

Then I tried to call to one of my friends and he picked the phone , and talked with him for a few minutes – again tried a couple of another friends and it was ringing, but none picked – it is working hours in US.  The voice was so clear and there was no delay and it was told that the response to this system is very good and this can be a potential competitor to the telecom companies – may be they will unite and levy charge to receive calls from google ? :-D

wait and see how will the rest of the world will react to this ‘google way’ of calls !!!

remembering memories

Posted by: Vinod Chacko   in misc

memory is an astonishing stuff… I literally dropped my jaws when my kinder garden teacher recognised me after ~ 23 years in just a glance and enquired about my dad and mom! I still cannot recollect the complete list of classmates i had in my college or in any of my class I attended.

Some one try not to remember or some one behaves as if he had an amnesia! life is so strange! And it is hard to find some one who just dont forget… I dont know in which class i will fall… its others to decide…

When I look back after reaching so far in the uphill trek, I feel as if I am far from my close ones… was I left behind or I left them behind ? I dont know…

An open question to the opposition!

Posted by: Vinod Chacko   in misc

1. Will you slash the fuel price if you are back in power, ever ?
2. Will you regulate the fuel prices again ?
3. Will you slash the taxes levied on petroleum products ?
4. Will you regulate the food prices ?

Well, this video makes some sense… the same is happening with the shores of Kerala, where there is deposits of lignite worth millions… And according to her , the mineral deposits in Orissa and neighbouring states are worth trillions and when government is not able to mine it out, it will ‘outsourse’ to some other private companies whose aim is only to make profit, at any cost… So naturally a suppression of local people happens and over the time , they will be so suppressed that they burst out to gain the attention of other society or governing bodies…

Well, personally, I am against these kind of violence , but as Mrs Roy says ” What do you do when 1000 policemen surround you in a forest ? do you go on a hunger strike ?” These are the natural reaction of a society or a group of societies where justice is being denied for them for long years.

May be as she says , an issue of FreeMarket capitalism

good for nothing harthal!

Posted by: Vinod Chacko   in misc

wow, again the useless governing party had announced another harthal.  I dont know what these idiots gain by creating chaos in the society and by disturbing social balance.

Harthal is now not a way of protesting against policies. If they need to protest against these fuel price hike, let them do the following

1. Take off the taxes levied by state government on the petrol products.

2. Cut down travel expenses of government officials.

3. Encourage public transport – instead of increasing the bus fare , slash it down and increase the number of state owned public transport in and between cities.

4. Build better roads so that we’ll get better fuel efficiency.

5. Encourage ‘Green’ transport ( Reva etc )

6. Levy tax or toll to private transport in cities ( because city traffic is more fuel consuming )

the other side of Monsoon

Posted by: Vinod Chacko   in misc

Monsoon is really a phenomenon – I do not think no one can completely explain how the second half  of the year is raining while the first half is not.  I too, like every one, know that kerala is more beautiful in the monsoon. Every where there will be green, the It is nice to see the rough sea and the clouds giving the sea and lakes a black tint which makes everything a beautiful work of God!

I too love Monsoon, but does every one does love it ? Have been to a beach a couple of weeks ago. We ended up to that place instead of Marari Beach, where we really wished to go. The Place was good to see, the sea was rough, and wild. A good feast for the eyes of a visitor, but th local people says that the seahas taken up the land by about 200 meters and has taken away a lot of their land and houses..

The poor roads, and the poor drainage system makes God’s own country a devils owned country. Almost all the roads are gutters, cannot really drive through these roads. The wear and tear causing to the vehicle is many times higher if the rains is not here.

The frequent landslide and floods make living in the high range area too difficult.  Each Monsoon have a story of losses – loss of life and property.

There is a lot of rain fall in Kerala, but who cares to trap the water to use it for their daily purposes ? All are only interested to fight against the authority for poor water supply. Why they cant trap it and use it wisely ?

Yea the monsoon is really giving a panaromic view to an outsider – but who can enjoy it having our home / land / cultivation getting destroyed with them ? Unless we are prepared to face monsoon as it needs to be faces, I believe Monsoon is a curse than a boon. Of course, it retains the water in our rivers, and the monsoon is providing the water for our hydro electric projects, and many other stuff… But With monsoon, there comes a lot of other issues like that of health, power and many other.

But we really need to prepare for each monsoon.
